There is a mermaid that lives at the bottom of the ocean. Her tail kicks up sand as she peers upward, her murky curls waving around her cheeks like seaweed and her glittery-blue lips open in awe. She observes the sailor, a young man, floating aimlessly above her.
He is lost at sea.
Though his attire is black and his hair is dark, he shines above her: brighter than the sun and the water sparkles around her in drops of silver and gold.
There was once a time when she swam to the surface and saw two people in love, and she suddenly wishes she was one of those silly, teen-aged humans, because she wants desperately to wrap her arms and legs tightly around him--tighter than the waves holding him above her--but she has no legs and her arms are empty.

*smiles* If you always write stories, I will always read them. I never get tired of them.
